SMS notifications
Getting SMS as a member
Save your mobile number and tick the opt-in box so your weekly parking and request decisions arrive as a text message.

Before you start
SMS notifications are switched on by your organisation. If there is no SMS area on your Preferences page, or the opt-in box is unavailable, your organisation may not have enabled SMS yet. Ask your administrator, or see Enable SMS for your organisation to understand what they need to do.
Opt in to SMS
- 1Go to your Preferences page.
- 2Find the SMS notifications area.
- 3Enter your Australian mobile number.
- 4Tick the opt-in box to start receiving texts.
Why the box is greyed out
The opt-in checkbox stays disabled until you have saved a mobile number. Save the number first, then the box becomes available to tick.
Mobile number formats
The number must be an Australian mobile. Any of these formats is accepted:
- 0412 345 678
- 61412345678
- +61412345678
Heads up
Landline numbers, overseas numbers and numbers without a valid Australian mobile prefix are rejected. Double-check the number if saving fails.
What you will be texted
Two kinds of message come through as texts, and each identifies ParkShare as the sender:
- Your weekly allocation, after the weekly run: ParkShare: your parking for 22 Sep – 28 Sep. Mon BAY-1, Tue BAY-4.
- A park request decision: ParkShare: your parking request for 2026-09-30 was approved. (Declined requests are texted too.)
- If nothing was allocated for you in a week, you get a no parking allocated text instead of the weekly list.
Opt out any time
To stop receiving texts, go back to Preferences and untick the same opt-in box. The change takes effect straight away for future messages; nothing further is sent to your mobile.
Good to know
Unticking the box does not delete your saved number. If you opt back in later, you will not need to re-enter it.
Who can see your number
Your mobile number is shared with one person only: the colleague you share a tandem parking stack with, so they can contact you about handovers. It is not shown to anyone else in the organisation.
By ticking the opt-in box you give ParkShare your express consent to send those texts to your mobile. Unticking the box withdraws that consent. For the background, see Consent and the Spam Act.
